DON'T BURN YOUR BRIDGES!!!
As my mother always said "your reputation is everything!". In this intensely competitive field it is crucial to conduct oneself with dignity and respect for others. In an arena fraught with challenges acquiring and maintaining staff it is paramount to success to maintain a solid "employer reputation" and brand. Competition for skilled employees is so fierce that witnessing all out conflicts amid Medical professionals is not uncommon (yes I've witnessed some heated exchanges at Aesthetic conferences amongst MDs over staff). There is no need to loose one's cool! Traits such as empathy, integrity, kindness and good graces never go out of style and have a long-lasting impact on how employees (current or former) experience your brand and communicate their experience to others (Glassdoor reviews anyone?). Conflicts happen, but mitigating personality wrinkles is just as important-if not more-than the effects of neuromodulators on forehead furrows. Solid leadership promotes a healthy workplace culture which can drive revenue up, increase employee satisfaction, and help reduce the blight of endless turnover so prevalent in the field.
They say "you are what you eat", I say, "you are who you hire". If you can't keep quality employees, no amount of shouting and name calling is going to alter the dynamic. Take a moment, breath and understand that 'you catch more flies with honey than vinegar'. The most successful practices in the field understand this exceptionally well!
Bon chance!
